Sailor Bear<br> خرسی قایق سواری می‌کند - قصه‌های خرسی و باباش ۶

Small bear is lost and does not know what to do. He thinks and thinks and he looks at his sailor suit and he decides to be a sailor and sail on the sea. He makes a boat from some pieces of wood and he finds a sea small enough for a small bear and he sails off by the light of the moon. But the sea grows too rough and Bear's boat rocks and rolls and shatters and sinks. Small Bear is shipwrecked on the shore and lies shivering and cold, until next morning when a small girl finds him. She hugs him and takes him home and sets him by the fire to dry. Now Small Bear knows what to do. He'll stay where he is with his new friend and never go to sea again. Martin Waddell has also written "Can't You Sleep, Little Bear?" About Author: Martin Waddell was born April 10, 1941, in Belfast, Ireland. He always wanted to be a professional soccer player. After having played for junior teams in Ireland, he left school at fifteen and held a variety of jobs, including working at a publishing company and as a night switchboard operator for a taxi company. Waddell is now one of the most prolific and successful contemporary children's writers, with more than one hundred books to his credit, some of them under his pseudonym Catherine Sefton. He won the 1986 Other Award, for his book Starry Night, which was also a runner up for The Guardian Children¿s Fiction Award and was shortlisted for the Young Observer Teenage Fiction Prize. He has twice won the Smarties Book Prize, for Farmer Duck and Can't You Sleep Little Bear? He also won the 1989 Kurt Mascher Award for The Park In The Dark, the 1990 Bets Book For Babies for Rosie¿s Babies and has been shortlisted for the 1992 Smarties Book Prize for Along The Lonely Road.

خرسی در کتاب «خرسی قایق سواری می کند!» با لباس ملوانی‌اش گم شده است و در فکر است که می‌تواند چه کارهایی بکند او به دریا می‌رود تا یک قایق برای خودش پیدا کند اما همهٔ قایق‌ها برای او بزرگ هستند. پس یک قایق کوچک برای خودش می‌سازد اما دریا هم برای خرسی بزرگ پس قایق‌اش را در یک دریاچه می‌اندازد و سوارش می‌شود اما هوا طوفانی می‌شود و قایق خرسی غرق می‌شود و خرسی شناکنان خودش را به ساحل می‌رساند. صبح دختری خرس را پیدا می‌کند. خرسی حالا پیدا شده و تصمیم می‌گیرد همان جان بماند.

درباره نویسنده: مارتین وادل (زاده 10 10 آوریل 1941) نویسنده ایرلندی کتابهای کودکان است. او را شاید برای متون کتاب های تصویری که دارای حیوانات انسان شناسی هستند، به ویژه سری خرس کوچک که توسط باربارا فیرت تصویرگری شده (که نباید با سری Minarik & Sendak's Bear Little اشتباه گرفته شود) بهتر شناخته شود. او همچنین با نام قلم کاترین صفتون، برای کودکان بزرگتر، در درجه اول داستان های ارواح و داستان های رمز و راز می نویسد. اثر صفتون که بیشتر در کتابخانه های WorldCat برگزار می شود، رمانی با لباس مخملی آبی (1972) است. وادل به دلیل "سهم ماندگار" خود به عنوان نویسنده کودک، مدال هانس کریستین اندرسن را در سال 2004 دریافت کرد.
